PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the opening/closing operation of a footrest plate by forming the footrest plate of a wheelchair to be freely rotatable, fixing both ends of its rotary shaft to both sides of a rotary arm and mounting two shafts pivotally fitted to the front leg part of the wheelchair on one end of the rotary arm so as to open and close the footrest plate only by a foot without using a hand. SOLUTION: At the time of pushing up the tip part of a footrest plate 6 with toes, the plate 6 is positively rotated by only 90 deg. around a rotary shafts 7 to be erected. At this time, an iron screw 13 embedded in the plate 6 is attracted by a push magnet 12 attached to a rotation arm 9 to hold the plate 6. On the other hand, at the time of push-in the plate 6 by a heel, the latch of the magnet 12 is detached and the plate 6 is reversed by only about 90 deg. around the shaft 7 again and lodged onto an angle 8 to be supported. Then, at the time of rotating the arm 9 with the plate 6 around a rotation axis pin 10, these are engaged by a stopper 15 and housed under the seat. Consequently, the opening/closing operation of the plate 6 is facilitated.
