PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject promoting material capable of prolonging the period of flower cultivation and flowing period of flowers by effects of plant growth promotion in the hydroponic with activation, etc., of plant cells by composing the material of a simple substance and/or a composite of a nonporous massive shape consisting essentially of a specific calcium carbonate. SOLUTION: This plant growth promoting material is composed of a simple substance and/or a composite of a nonporous massive shape consisting essentially of a calcium carbonate selected from at least Kansui-seki (a marble stone comprising calcium of 99% purity produced in Okayama Prefecture, Japan) or a nonporous silica sand. The plant growth promoting material for the hydroponic can be formed of the Kansu-seki or a mixture thereof and a composite of a resin scarcely charged with static electricity and a negative ion-releasing mineral. At this time, the particle diameter of the simple substance of the Kansui-seki or its mixture or nonporous silica sand is preferably 0.1μm to 100 mm.
