PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a counterweight device for elevator which can insert as many weights as possible in a weight frame. SOLUTION: This counterweight device 3 for elevator comprises a counterweight frame 8, counterweight sheave 4 provided on an upper end of the counterweight frame 8, and a plurality of stages of weights 9, 10 laminated within the counterweight frame 8. The weight in the lower stage out of the weights 9, 10 is integrated. The weight in the upper stage is split into a plurality of portions 10a, 10b.
