PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for a reforming reaction capable of efficiently heating a reforming reactional part and prolonging the life of a combustion catalyst. SOLUTION: This apparatus for a reforming reaction is formed by providing the apparatus with a combustion cylinder 3 connected to a fuel feed passage 1 for feeding a fuel for combustion and an air feed passage 2 for feeding air, a reforming reactional part 5 arranged in the interior of the combustion cylinder 3 housing a reforming catalyst 4 in the interior thereof and producing a hydrogen-rich reformed gas from a source fuel by actions of the reforming catalyst 4 and a combustion catalyst 6 supported on the surface of the outer periphery of the reforming reactional part 5 and catalytically burning a mixed gas of the fuel for combustion with air fed into the interior of the combustion cylinder 3. The catalytic combustion is produced on the surface of the outer periphery of the reforming reactional part 5 supporting the combustion catalyst 6 and the heat of combustion at the time of catalytic combustion can directly be transmitted to the reforming reactional part 5 to efficiently heat the reforming reactional part 5.
