PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a powdery explosive composition suitably useful in a mine where high temperature sulfide ores are produced and keeping uniform heat resistance even after transported by incorporating a heat resistant agent in an explosive comprising powdery ammonium nitrate and fuel by a specified weight ratio. SOLUTION: The powdery explosive composition comprises 91 to 97 wt.%, preferably 93 to 95 wt.%, powdery ammonium nitrate containing the heat resistant agent and 3 to 9 wt.%, preferably 5 to 7 wt.%, fuel. As the heat resistant agent, urea, thiourea, ammonium borate, etc., are exemplified whose particle size has no special limitation. But the heat resistant agent has preferably below around 1,000μm particle size from the viewpoint of its dissolving speed in the concentrated ammonium nitrate aqueous solution when the explosive is produced. The heat resistant agent has preferably over 93% purity for exhibiting its effect and is incorporated in the composition by normally 0.1 to 5 wt.%, preferably 0.5 to 3 wt.%. As for the fuel, for example, fuel oil such as light oil and kerosene, wood flour, metallic powder such as aluminum powder, synthetic resin powder, etc., are used.
