OUTER SURFACE TREATMENT OF GLASS BOTTLE AND GLASS BOTTLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating the outer surface of a glass bottle, forming a coating film not so thick as to produce brightness and making the glass bottle have excellent alkali resistance and slight deterioration of resistance to scuffing even if the glass bottle used as a returnable bottle. SOLUTION: The outer surface of a glass bottle immediate after molding is treated with a fluorocarbon gas and then the outside of the glass bottle is treated with a tin compound and/or a titanium compound to form a coating film of tin oxide or titanium oxide having 80-400Åthickness. The pinhole of the coating film is reduced and alkali resistance is improved by the treatment with the fluorocarbon gas.
