PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel printer and a positioning device therefor capable of self-traveling wherein a range of objects to be printed is enlarged by reducing the limitation when the printing is performed on media except a flat paper. SOLUTION: This printer prints a character or an image on a desired surface of a solid object such as a wood, a plastic, a stone or a metal except a paper. This printer comprises an ink cartridge 4 (print head) for supplying ink to an object to be printed. The ink cartridge 4 is movable in a direction of an axis X by a support bar 6 and in a direction of an axis Y by wheels 2. The device body can be movable with respect to the object to be printed such as a cake.
