PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new guanosine-5'-monophosphate(GMP) synthetase comprising a protein having a specific amino acid sequence and GMP synthetase activity and derived from Brevibacterium, and suitable for producing GMP useful as a raw material for a seasoning agent, etc. SOLUTION: This enzyme is a new GMP synthetase comprising a protein having an amino acid sequence shown by the formula or an amino acid sequence, in which one or plural amino acids are substituted, deleted, inserted, added or inversed in the amino acid sequence shown by the formula, and GMP synthetase activity. The enzyme is derived from Brevibacterium lactofermentum (Corynebacterium glutamicum) and usable for production of a nucleic acid-based material such as GMP useful as a raw material for a seasoning agent, etc. The enzyme is obtained by expressing a gene, which is obtained from a chromosome of Brevibacterium lactofermentum by PCR using a primer designed from a base sequence of guaA gene of Escherichia coli, etc., in a expression system. |
