PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high strength ceramic block excellent in stainproof property and frost damage resistance and useful for paving, for example, a roadway for passing vehicles, a parking lot and an entranceway from the roadway and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: The ceramic block is constituted so that porcelainized aggregates having <=2 mm maximum particle size are integrated by a porcelainized firing binder and the ceramic block has 40-80 wt.% aggregates and 20-60 wt.% firing binder, <=4% water absorptivity and >=16 MPa bending strength. The production method of the ceramic block comprises pulverizing the porcelainized aggregated and classifying them to obtain powdery aggregates having 2 mm maximum particle size, further classifying them into coarser aggregates and finer aggregates, mixing and kneading the coarser aggregates with water, mixing and kneading the kneaded coarser aggregates with the finer aggregates and a plastic firing binder, press forming the kneaded mixture and firing the formed body to porcelainize the firing binder. |
