PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing the subject fibers each with uniform sharpendness of both ends through efficiently using an alkali agent so as to shorten the time of treatment with the agent. SOLUTION: This method for producing the subject fibers is characterized by comprising the following process: the flank of a bundled assembly of polyester-based fibers is covered with a material substantially insoluble to water under the condition of hydrolyzing the fibers, and the resultant fiber assembly is soaked in an alkaline treatment liquid and hydrolyzed; wherein the hydrolysis treatment is performed using a package dyeing machine.
