PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new triazacyclononane compound having a chiral substituent, less restricted in a reaction substrate or a reaction solvent, and useful as a catalyst for asymmetric syntheses, a thin film sensor or the like by introducing a chiral hydrocarbon group onto a nitrogen atom. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I [R1 to R1" are each H, formula II (R3 to R5 are each H or a hydrocarbon group; R6 is a divalent hydrocarbon group; (n) is 0, 1) or the like; and R2 is H], for example, 1,4,7-tris(2-methyl-1- butyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane. A compound of formula I is obtained by introducing a hydrocarbon group having a chiral carbon onto the nitrogen atom of a compound (e.g. 1,4,7-triazacyclononane) which has a corresponding skeleton and in which all of R1 to R1" are H. The compound can be converted into a metal complex by reacting with a metal salt such as cupric chloride. The compound can be applied for asymmetric recognition and asymmetric induction. |
