PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite yarn of filament and staple having friendliness to the environment and softness free from waxy feeling, suitable for clothing, comprising a filament composed of a polylactic acid and a staple composed of a polylactic acid fiber, a regenerated fiber, etc. SOLUTION: This composite yarn of filament and staple is obtained by using a fiber yarn having flatness or crimp composed of a polylactic acid at least in a part of the yarn. The composite yarn of filament and staple comprises a filament composed of a polylactic acid and one or more staples selected a polylactic acid fiber, a regenerated fiber, a semisynthetic fiber and a natural fiber. In the crosssectional shape of the composite yarn of filament and staple, the collective state of the filament and the staple is any of side by side state, sheath-core state and a mixed dispersion state. With respect to the side shape of the composite yarn of filament and staple, the collective state of the filament and the staple is preferably any of an alternate appearance of filament and staple, filament covering, staple covering and random appearance of filament and staple. The ratio of filament/staple component is preferably 10-90/90-10.
