PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ground fabric for an airbag having excellent expandability while keeping the mechanical characteristics and useful for automobile, etc., by setting an air-permeability below a prescribed level and the crimping percentage difference of the warp and weft constituting the fabric below a prescribed level. SOLUTION: The objective ground fabric for an airbag is a woven synthetic fiber fabric having an air-permeability of <=0.5 mL/cm2/sec in conformity to JIS L1096 (6.27.1A) and the crimping percentage difference between the warp and the weft constituting the fabric is <=6% measured in conformity to JIS L1096 (6.7.2B). Preferably, the tensile elongation difference between the warp direction and the weft direction of the fabric is <=6% in conformity to JIS L1096 (6.12.1A), the weaving density of warp or weft is 80-97% of the density of the other yarn, the total fineness of the yarn is 110-560 dtex, the single fiber fineness is 0.6-8 dtex and the cover factor of the fabric is 1,500-2,500.
