摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new gene having a specific base sequence, comprising a DNA having promoter activity, controlling anther dehiscence and pollen maturity, and e.g. useful for raising male sterility plants for producing F1 hybrid variety seeds. SOLUTION: This gene is a new DNA expressed by a base sequence of the formula or a new DNA expressed e.g. by a base sequence where at least one base deletion, substitution or addition has occurred in a base sequence of the formula, having promoter activity and obtained by the site-specific mutagenesis of the DNA expressed by a base sequence of the formula. The gene controls anther dehiscence and pollen maturity, and is used for producing male sterility plants useful for producing F1 hybrid seeds, the fertility restoring of male sterility plants or the like. The DNA is obtained by isolation from a cDNA library of WS-ecotype Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh.
