PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good restitution coefficient to a ball when hitting the ball and to improve a ball hitting feeling when hitting the ball by increasing the strength, specific modulus of elasticity and specifc fatigue strength of a ball hitting face. SOLUTION: This metal head 3 is provided with at least a face part 7, a sole part 9 and a crown part 11 and formed in wood club head shape. The face part 7 of the metal head 3 or a ball hitting face part 7a of the face part 7 is composed of at least one kind of material selected from a group comprising berylium metal, grain reinforced compound material composed of berylium and an aluminum-magnesium alloy, and grain reinforced compound material composed of berylium and an aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy. The sole part 9 and crown part 11 are respectively composed of at least one kind of material selected from a qroup comprising berylium metal; grain reinforced compound material composed of berylium and an aluminum-magnesium alloy; grain reinforced compound titanium alloy composed of berylium and an aluminum- magnesium-silicon alloy; an aluminum alloy; an iron alloy; and a magnesium alloy.
