PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method for an elevating type parking device with which parking waiting time is shortened. SOLUTION: Parking shelves include high parking shelves 5 to store high roof cars 7B and ordinary parking shelves 4 to store ordinary cars 7A, pallets 6 are the pallets 6 which the high roof cars 7B and the ordinary cars 7A can commonly use, the number of the pallets 6 is made smaller than the number of the parking shelves 4, 5 by one, one of the pallets is placed in a depositing and delivery space 10, and the remaining pallets are arranged on the remaining parking shelves 4, 5 one each of the high parking shelves 5 and the ordinary parking shelves 4 is made vacant under an operation method of an elevating type parking device having the parking shelves 4, 5 with a ramp 2 between them, placing the pallets 6 in the depositing and delivery space 10 provided in the ramp 2, storing the cars 7A, 7B to deposit on the parking shelves 4, 5 by placing them on the pallets 6 and to deliver them by moving them to the depositing and delivery space 10 from the parking shelves 4, 5 in a state of placing them on the pallets 6.
