The invention relates to a hydraulic installation converting the mechanical energy of rivers into expulsive and/or electric energy. The mechanical energy is transmitted through a crank-like device (16) driving the cables (19 and 20) in an alternating movement transmitted to chains (26, 27) which form part of a subassembly B. The subassembly B comprises said chains (26, 27) fastened on the metallic mounting shoes (30, 31) which press on drums (37). The drums (37) engage the axle (41) of subassembly B in a one-way rotation by means of a latch mechanism. The movement is transmitted therefrom to a reducer (39) and further to an electric generator (40) through a coupling.
