摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating material excellent in an affinity for water and capable of giving a coating film excellent in a water drop adhesion preventing effect, which material comprises an aqueous solution containing a polymer having hydrophilic groups in the molecule and a swellable silicate. SOLUTION: The mixing ratio of the polymer having hydrophilic groups in the molecule to the swellable silicate is preferably 70/30 to 5/95 by weight. It is desirable that the polymer is a PVA having a degree of polymerization of 1,000-3,500 and, desirably, a degree of saponification of about 86-98%. The swellable silicate is desirably the one that has a particle size of at most 10μm, desirably, at most 5μm (in terms of a mean particle diameter) and such colloid forming properties (in terms of a thickening effect brought about when it is added to water) that an aqueous dispersion containing at least 5 wt.% silicate has a viscosity of at least 102 cP. From the point of view of swellability and hue, it is desirably a synthetic smectite or fluoromica. When this coating material is applied, it is possible to form a coating film which holds condensed water in the form of a thin water film or eliminates its slip.
