An elastomeric yarn of 160 - 1400 dtex is wound on a package of at least 1.5 kg, e.g. 3 to 8 kg, and contains more than 2.2 wt% spin finish. The filament cross-section is ribbon-like with a width to thickness ratio of at least 3:1, preferably at least 10:1. The yarn contains more than 160, preferably more than 400 filaments.
