The rear step is fitted to a street vehicle (16). It has a step plate (4) running transversely to the direction of travel in the region of the rear entrance. The plate has at least one carrier (2) connecting it to the vehicle. The carrier is able to be displaced in at least one holder (3) in the direction of the vehicle. There may be two carriers and holders.
