The vehicle pneumatic brake system has a change-over valve which can be controlled to link a compressed air supply (12) for the second brake circuit with at least one brake cylinder (2,4), independently of the main compressed air supply (14) for the second circuit. The change-over valve has an inlet (50') to link the compressed air supply (14) with the second brake circuit and a further inlet (50) at the independent compressed air supply (12). The compressed air outlet (51) is linked to the control inlet (15') of the multi-circuit braking value transmitter (15) and also to a pressure inlet (7) of the second control valve unit (6).
