The spindle motor has a stator, a rotor, and a shaft (8) arranged between stator and rotor and anti-friction bearing which includes an inner (9) and an external (11) bearing ring with roll bodies arranged in between. An influencing compensation element (18) which possesses a preset relatively large thermal expansion coefficient is arranged on the external and/or inner bearing ring (9,11). A similar compensating element may be fitted to compensate for axial influences. The roll bodies are of a material having a relatively large coefficient of expansion e.g. ceramic material.
