The invention relates to a method for permitting a vehicle to continue driving after a drop in tire pressure comprising the following steps: Detecting a value which varies according to the pressure of the tire; detecting at least one driving parameter for the continued driving of a vehicle according to the detected value, and outputting and/or adjusting the driving parameter. A device (1) for permitting the vehicle to continue driving after a drop in tire pressure comprises a value detection device (10) for detecting a value which varies according to the pressure of the tire, has a driving parameter detection device (11) which detects, according to the determined value, a driving parameter which permits the vehicle to continue driving, and comprises an output and/or control device (12, 13) for outputting the driving parameter to the driver and/or for controlling vehicle settings according to the determined driving parameter. The invention also relates to a method for controlling a tire pressure monitoring system which comprises the following steps: Monitoring the tire pressure of at least one tire mounted on a vehicle wheel; outputting a warning if a certain pressure loss is identified, and; controlling the tire pressure monitoring system according to the correction measure with which the loss in pressure had been corrected.
