The present disclosure relates to a method for forming an end portion (22) o f a tube (20). The method includes rotating the tube (20) about a longitudinal axis (24), heating the end portion (22) of the tube (20), and forming the en d portion (22) of the tube (20) by reciprocating a forming member (26) along a succession of curved forming paths (28). Each curved forming path (28) is tangent to and curves away from a corresponding one of a succession of angularly spaced apart, substantially straight reference lines (30). A formi ng reduction is provided between each curved forming path (28) and its corresponding one of the reference lines (30).
