PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing seed extract of Helianthus annus L. for eliminating free radical is provided, which prevents aging; and which can gives stability and skin-safety. CONSTITUTION: A process for the preparation of seed extract of Helianthus annus L. comprises of: washing and drying the seeds of Helianthus annus L.; pulverizing the Helianthus annus L. seed, and adding the powder 1kg to water 3L; soaking for 15days at room temperature, and filtering with Wattman No.2 filter sheath; and concentrating the filtered solution with a refrigerating condenser-attached decompression-concentrator to get the seed extract of Helianthus annus L. 4.7g. The cosmetic composition for eliminating free radical contains the seed extract of Helianthus annus L. 0.01-20.0wt.%, desirably 0.1-10.0wt.% based on the total weight of the composition, and which can be manufactured in the form of cosmetic water, a cream, a lotion, cleansing foam, powder, an essence, or a pack.
