PURPOSE: A method for split-scanning a document is to scan at least one or more areas of the document under respective different conditions, thereby obtaining one or more images by a single document setting process. CONSTITUTION: The method for split-scanning a document comprises pre-scanning the document set in a scanner when receiving a scanning order from a driver program and transmitting a pre-scanned image to a computer, determining whether a split-scanning function is selected when receiving the pre-scanned image, storing information of one or more scanning areas set by a user and information of a resolution condition corresponding to each scanning area when the split-scanning function is selected, transmitting the information of the scanning areas and the resolution condition to the scanner when receiving a scanning order from the driver program, controlling a position of an optical portion for scanning the document according to the information, and scanning each scanning area according to the resolution and then transmitting a scanned image to the computer.
