APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING SUCCESSIVE NUMERAL SOUND

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for recognizing a successive numeral sound is to exactly recognize the successive numeral sound, thereby increasing a recognizing rate. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for recognizing a successive numeral sound comprises a unit phoneme extracting portion(32) for extracting a feature from input sound and comparing the extracted feature with a reference pattern to extract a matched unit phoneme, a numeral row generating portion(34) for modeling the extracted unit phoneme by a length to generate a plurality of numeral row candidates, and a numeral constructing portion(36) for selecting a numeral sound having a proper length ratio using a relative length ratio and reconstructing an optimum numeral row. The method for recognizing the successive numeral sound comprises steps of extracting a feature from the sound, comparing the extracted feature with a reference pattern to extract a matched unit numeral sound, modeling the extracted unit numeral sound by a length to generate the plurality of numeral row candidates, selecting the numeral sound having the proper length ratio using the relative length ratio, and reconstructing an optimum numeral row using the selected numeral sound.
