PURPOSE: A digital video disc(DVD)-ROM optics, is provided to reflect/penetrate beams by use of a plate beam splitter in playing/recording a CD-rewritable(RW) in order to be compatible with a CD-RW having different thickness and optic source from the DVD-ROM. CONSTITUTION: A digital video disc(DVD)-ROM optics includes a first optic source, a first optic path convertor, an objective lens and a first collimating lens, and is capable of playing/recording a CD-rewritable(WR). In the DVD-ROM optics, a second optic source emits second optics of a relative longer wave length than first optics. A second optic path convertor reflects and penetrates the second optics. A grating divides the second optics to play/record the CD-RW. A second collimating lens collimates the second optics. An 8-division optic detector detects playing/recording signal and an error signal by using reflected optics through the first collimating lens, second optic path convertor and objective lens, after being reflected on a recording surface of the disc.
