PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for selecting a broadcast channel of TV is to select a channel easily in response to a user's preference by inputting only a part of a desired channel number or the name of broadcasting station. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for selecting a broadcast channel of TV comprises a storing portion for storing information related to each channel, a key inputting portion for selecting a channel by a key operation of a user, an OSD(on-screen display) treatment portion for treating the channel information selected from the key inputting portion into an OSD signal, a displaying portion for displaying the channel information treated by the OSD treatment portion, and a controller. The method for selecting a broadcast channel of TV comprises steps of inputting a channel number or a name of broadcasting station through the key inputting portion, reading information of a channel begun by the number or character input through the key inputting portion and displaying the channel in the OSD, displaying the channel selected from the information by the user in a screen. |
