PURPOSE: A plasma display device and a dielectric layer manufacturing method having an electric field concentration part thereof are provided to lower a discharge initiating voltage and to improve a luminous efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display device includes a primary plate(31), address electrodes(32) having an intervals and formed in paralleled stripe type on the primary plate(32) in determined pattern, and a primary dielectric layer(33) burying the address electrodes(32). The primary plate(31) is joined to a transparent secondary plate(41) so as to make a discharge space. A plurality of holding electrodes(42), forming a group as a primary electrode(42a) and a secondary electrode(42b), are formed in the secondary plate(41) in orthogonal direction with the address electrode(32). A secondary dielectric layer(43) is formed on the secondary plate(41) inside to bury the holding electrode(42). Partitions(45) divide a discharge space between the primary plate(31) and the secondary plate(41), and has a determined width and height in a parallel direction with the address electrodes(32) on the primary dielectric layer(33). A fluorescent film(46) is formed in the divided discharge space. An electric field concentration part(50) between the primary and the secondary electrode(42a)(42b) has at least one or more groove(51) in determined depth within the secondary dielectric layer(43). And a protecting film(44) on the secondary dielectric layer(43) having one or more groove(51), protects the secondary dielectric layer(43) from an ion. |
