PURPOSE: A mask frame assembly for a cathode ray tube is provided to improve a screen quality of the cathode ray tube. CONSTITUTION: A mask frame assembly for a cathode ray tube includes a shadow mask(20) welded to the mask frame(22). The mask frame(22) includes a plane section(24) and a side section(26) extending in right angle with the plane section(24). The plane section(24) has a through hole(28) to pass an electric beam, and the side section(26) has an opening(30). The opening is made by cutting in right angle with the plane section(25) on a spot of 1/6 from the middle of two ends of the sides. The shadow mask(20) has a front screen section(32) formed in the same curvature with the inside of a face panel, and a skirt section(34) extending in right angle with the front screen section(32). The front screen section(32) a perforated section(36) where a collision of the electric beam occurs, and an imperforated section(38) located in the outside of the perforated section(36). The perforated section(36) has a plurality of mask holes(40) for conversing the electric beam. The skirts section(34) has a plurality of uneven sections, whose prominent section(34a) is weld to the side section(26), and the depressed section(34b) is joined with the opening(30).
