APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING FAULT IN SIGNAL PATH OF TRANSMITTER

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for detecting a fault in a signal path of a transmitter is provided to easily and stably detect the fault of the transmitter by previously setting an error to be occurred between an input signal(I modulation signal) and an output signal(QPSK modulation RF signal) and detecting a difference between input and output signals to detect the fault of the transmitter. CONSTITUTION: The first detecting circuit(24) detects a mean power of a Q modulation signal. The second detecting circuit(32) detects a mean power of a QPSK modulation RF signal. A processor(42) compares the mean power of the Q modulation signal detected in the first detecting circuit(24) with the mean power of the QPSK modulation RF signal detected in the second detecting circuit(32), and computes a difference between two mean powers. The processor(42) compares the computed difference between two mean powers with a predetermined threshold value and judges a fault of a transmitter as a result of the comparison.
