Use of dimethylformamide (I) as accelerator in the determination of bilirubins (II) in serum. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a reagent for determination of (II) comprising (I), zinc sulfate and 6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchroman-2-carboxylic acid (III); and (2) a method for determining (II) comprising: (i) treating serum with sodium nitrite and sulfanilic acid in presence of the reagent of (a); (ii) adding 2-aminoethanol (IV), optionally mixed with (I); and (iii) measuring absorbance. |
