An apparatus for underwater generation of pressure pulses comprises a spark generator ("sparker") 1 comprising at least one metal frame 3 and a large number of separate electrodes 4 disposed within the frame 3, and an electric voltage source 2 to generate high-voltage pulses. The frame of the spark generator is connected via a first conductor 6 to the positive pole 7, and the electrodes are connected via a common second conductor 8 to the negative pole 9 of the voltage source. This ensures that the quality of the pressure pulses generated is very good and that no or virtually no wear of the electrodes will occur. |
