Detecting microorganism in e.g. water, wine or beer, by passing the medium through a microfiltration device and analysing the filter surface

The medium in which microorganisms may be present is passed through a microfilter (1) and the filter surface is then analysed. A method for detecting microorganisms in a medium comprises filtering the medium at a flow rate of 1-50 ml/mm2>/min, using a microfilter, and detected filtered microorganisms on the microfilter surface. An independent claim is also included for the microfiltration device (4).
