PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart high strength to the alloy, to increase its ductility as well and to improve a balance of both by preparing a Ti alloy contg. specified ratios of Cr, V, Al and O. SOLUTION: A Ti alloy contg., by weight, 10 to 15% Cr, >12 to 24% V, 4 to 10% Al, 0.01 to 0.4% O, and the balance Ti with inevitable impurities is prepd. In this way, a Ti alloy to form into a useful material in the case the situation that working is particularly easy is desired as the material for the head of a golf club or the material for machine parts (such as the valve retainer of an automotive engine) for which light weight and high strength are required is obtd. Moreover, Cr centers into solid solution in theβphase to strengthen this. V is an element which enters into theβphase to strengthen it similarly to Cr and plays an important role for securing ductility. A relatively small amt. of Al forms solid solution into theβphase and is useful for the strengthening of theβphase. O is the component for strengthening theαphase as well, and it also forms solid solution into theβphase and is useful for strengthening it.
|
