PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent large tensile stress from being applied to a band also when a band contact surface of a V-type block is made a crowning surface for an automatic aligning of the band. SOLUTION: When a shoulder part of a V-type block laying a band is made a crowning surface curved into medium and high from the viewpoint of a band traveling direction, also an endless band is curved so as to be middle and high in a band width direction. When a ratio (R2/R1) of a curvature radius R2 of the band for a curvature radius R1 of the crowning surface is changed and maximum tensile stressσmax of a band outer peripheral surface is measured, a relation between both of R1 and R2 exists as shown in a Figure. In a conventional way, because the band is not curved in the band width direction, (R2/R1) do not become 0.35 or below, even if the band becomes a curved shape in the band width direction in a pulley winding area, and large tensile stress is received. Therefore, (R2/R1) is determined for values (0.21 or more, 0.35 or below) within a range shown byβso that maximum tensile stress of the band outer peripheral surface may be smaller than conventional one.
