PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a barrier rib for a plasma display panel excellent in flatness allowing molding with an easy manufacturing process and allowing a minute structure, and to obtain a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: This plasma display panel is provided with a plurality of electrode groups and a barrier rib for forming spaces for minute discharge display cells between a pair of insulative substrates facing to each other. The spaces are airtightly sealed with a dischargeable gas. A discharge between the electrodes generates plasma, and the plasma makes a phosphor inside the discharge display cell emit light. Thus, a light emitting element in a screen of the plasma display panel emits light. The barrier rib is coated with an overcoat layer.
