PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly generate a copy of data by coordinating a source drive to plural drive target drives and inputting/outputting to the source drive and the target drives while providing copies of plural segments onto the target drives. SOLUTION: When a RAID sub system 20 is informed of a source and a target drive, data in a cache 17 and data in a cache 26 stored on the source drive are committed. While cache data are committed, a file on the source drive including data to be copied is temporarily closed and, once the cache data are committed, the file is reopened and is made available. Next, a RAID controller 21 starts copy processing, data on the source drive are copied onto the target drive and input/output to the source drive and the target drive is enabled during copy.
