PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic treatment apparatus in which a channel can be efficiently disposed in a sheath without causing buckling of an operating rod nor reducing the washability of the inside of the channel trough which the operating rod is passed and the strength of a vibration transmitting member. SOLUTION: This ultrasonic treatment apparatus includes an ultrasonic vibrator, a vibration transmitting member 51 for transmitting ultrasonic vibration produced by the ultrasonic vibrator, a sheath 31 for passing the vibration transmitting member therethrough, a holding member 82 rotatably attached to the end of the sheath for holding a tissue between itself and the end 51a of the vibration transmitting member 51 projecting from the end of the sheath, and an operating rod 52 passed through a rod channel 22 placed in the sheath for the operation of rotating the holding member. The cross section of the rod channel is set to differ in shape from the cross section of the operating rod whereby a continuous circulation path through which washing liquid can circulate along the overall length of the rod channel is formed between the operating rod and the rod channel.
