摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength division multiplex(WDM) optical transmission system capable of effectively compensating the wavelength dispersion and dispersion slope of individual wavelength bands in a simple configuration using a mixed transmission line at the time of transmitting the WDM signal light containing a plurality of wavelength bands. SOLUTION: In this WDM optical transmission system, concerning the mixed transmission line using 1.3 μm zero distribution SMF 3a and RDF 3b, wavelength dispersion characteristics are set so that the compensation rate of wavelength dispersion and dispersion slope on the reference wavelength band of one of a plurality of wavelength bands is almost 100%, and a dispersion compensation fiber capable of compensating the wavelength dispersion generated on the mixed transmission line is inserted to the propagation route of wavelength bands excepting the reference wavelength band inside an optical amplifier 4. Thus, the wavelength dispersion of a plurality of wavelength bands can be reliably compensated in a simple configuration.
