摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus for calculating a motion vector of a control point using a classified vector quantization technology is provided to simply obtain the motion vector of the control point without a circulated and repeated searching operation. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for calculating a motion vector of a control point using a classified vector quantization technology comprises a frame memory(10) for storing input image in a frame unit, a block matching algorithm(BMA) processing portion(20) for receiving the image data in a desired block unit from the frame memory and calculating the motion vector according to the block matching algorithm, a motion vector memory(30) for storing the motion vector calculated from the BMA processing portion, an input vector forming portion(40) for reading a desired number of the motion vectors adjacent to a control point from the motion vector memory and forming a x-component input vector and a y-component input vector, a x-component vector quantization unit for discriminating the x-component input vector according to the desired classification system and selecting a code book and then performing a searching process in a correspondent code book to quantize the x-component input vector, and a y-component vector quantization unit for discriminating and quantizing the y-component input vector.
