PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a focus detecting device which can improve focusing accu racy with a short time lag, even in a night view or in the case of photographing against the sun. SOLUTION: Electric charges generated by receiving and converting light are accumulated for an integrated time T and then read out as a sensor data output SDATA thereafter and while electric charges are accumulated for an integral time T' longer than the integral time T successively to the read, AF operation is carried out on the basis of the sensor data SDATA corresponding to the integral time T. Consequently, while the time lag is shortened, wrong distance measurement due to deficiency in the quantity of light from a main subject is prevented. |
