PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately decide a type and a size of a sheet and to suitably print a recording medium by providing an IC chip in which information such as a sheet type, a sheet size or the like is already input to the medium, and collating the information of the medium sent to a printer before printing with information in the chip. SOLUTION: A sheet type, size information, control data for recording of the recording medium are sent to a control means 30 by an external device 40. Before controlling a sheet feeding control circuit 10 and a print control circuit 20 from the means 30, data of an IC chip 2 in which information such as a sheet type, sheet size or the like are input are read by an IC reader 8, and its output signal is received by a data transfer circuit 9. The circuit 9 outputs the data of the chip 2 to the means 30, which decides the type and the size of the medium, and collates the information of the type and the size of the medium input from the device 40 in advance with the information sent from a recorder.
