PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine, having a valve system with a simply-configured rotation valve, so as to improve fuel efficiency and exhaust performance by means of inside large scale exhaust gas re-circulation (EGR). SOLUTION: In an exhaust stroke, an exhaust gas inside a combustion chamber 16 is emitted via an exhaust passage 32 of an exhaust valve body 25 communicated with an exhaust port 20. During the exhaust stroke, an intake passage 31 of an intake valve body 24 is communicated with an intake port 19, allowing the exhaust gas to be pushed out also to the intake port 19 side. In an intake stroke, when an intake passage 30 of the intake valve body 24 is communicated with the intake port 19, the exhaust gas is pushed out to the intake port 19 side during the exhaust stroke as well as mixed gas is sucked inside the combustion chamber 16.
