PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accomplish a desired sterilization effect in a considerably short treatment time compared to the case with conventional sterilization methods by subjecting microbes to irradiation with ultraviolet rays of such a wavelength band as to kill the microbes in the presence of ozone to make the microbes inviable. SOLUTION: This sterilization method comprises subjecting microbes to irradiation with ultraviolet rays in the presence of ozone to make the microbes inviable; more precisely, comprises generating ultraviolet rays of such a wavelength band as to kill microbes by actuating an ultraviolet generator along with actuating an ozone generator to generate ozone as activated oxygen form, furthermore feeding moisture in the form of water spray or steam and also making hydrogen peroxide coexist, and subjecting microbes on the surface of a packaging material to the irradiation with ultraviolet rays, thereby accomplishing a desired sterilization effect in a considerably short time by the aid of synergistic effect of the ultraviolet rays with ozone, compared to the case with conventional sterilization methods. |
