PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time required for preparing operation by detecting stop of an optical irradiating means from the number of pulses generated by rotation of a motor, a period, and voltage applied to the motor, stopping applying voltage to the motor, and performing efficiently preparing operation for reading data. SOLUTION: A control section 7 of a disk device receives an input of the prescribed signal and performs tracking control by which a slide motor SLM 3 is driven and focus control by which an actuator provided with an object lens is driven, receives rotation information from a spindle motor SPM 1, and performs operation supplying a signal for rotating it with the prescribed number of rotations. Further, the control section 7 controls the whole disk device so that the disk device performs such operation as data reading operation and preparing operation, and controls also a signal processing section 4, a data demodulation section 5, and an I/F section 6.
