PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording/reproducing device which performs dubbing with a low cost by simultaneously loading plural disk type recording mediums to reproduce and record information with a common recording and reproducing heads. SOLUTION: A tray is provided with a first placing part 20A where a CD is to be placed and a second placing part 20B where an MD 12 is to be placed. The CD 10 and the MD 12 are placed in placing parts 20A and 20B respectively and a loading mechanism of one system is started, thus collectively loading the CD 10 and MD 12 to the device. The CD 10 and the MD 12 arranged in prescribed loading positions are rotated and driven by driving mechanisms 22 and 24 respectively, and a common optical pickup head 32B is moved to successively reproduce information. Information is recorded in the MD 12 by the optical pickup head 32B and an overwrite head 34C.
