PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To interrupt the flow of circulating water by forming lugs on the side wall of the pump chamber of a casing toward the outer periphery from the center at positions above the center of the pump chamber of the casing in the pump chamber of the casing, on the outer periphery of an impeller and in the water passage portion of a back face portion. SOLUTION: Lugs 18 are formed on the side wall of a pump chamber 8 in the pump chamber 8 of a casing 3, on the outer periphery of an impeller and in the water passage portion of a back face portion. The flow of circulating water on the outer periphery of the impeller is changed by the lugs 18 even when a pump is operated by priming, and part of circulating water is fed to the sliding portions of a rotation side mechanical seal 11 along the lugs 18. The occurrence of seizure of sliding portions, deterioration of materials, and frictional sounds can be suppressed.
