PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer having heat stability and solvent resistance by using, as its constituents, methyl (meth)acrylate and/or (α-methyl)styrene, a (meth)acrylate and a hydrolyzable group-containing unsaturated silane-based compound and imparting specific particle size characteristics. SOLUTION: One or more monomers of formula I in an amount of 50-97.5 wt.%, 2-49.5 wt.% of one or more monomers of formula II and 0.5-40 wt.% of a monomer of formula III are blended to give an average particle diameter of 10-50μm and a particle size distribution in which the ratio of 90% value of volume distribution (ϕ(90)) to 10% value (ϕ(10)) is 2.0 or less. In the formulae, R1 is H or CH3; R2 is phenyl or -COOCH3; R3 is R1; R4 is a 2-20C group; R5 is R1; R6 is a 2-8C divalent group, R7 is 1-4C alkyl; and X is a hydrolyzable group. A sheet-like substrate having the bead polymer on the surface, which is obtained by applying the polymer to a sheet like substrate, is used as a recording material for ink-jet printing.
